50 years ago today, a brush fire grew out of control into massive general alarm fire that destroyed 21 buildings in Scranton, Pa.
Just wanted to share these two tournament brackets you could fill in addition to your NCAA Tournament Bracket …
The first is Sandwich Madness (http://www.pbs.org/food/features/sandwich-madness-meet-the-teams/). This interesting bracket is putting sandwiches head to head to see which one will reign supreme over all sandwiches. Sandwich Madness is being run by PBS Food. Right now, in the Meat division, Cheesesteak and Meatball Sub are going head to head. In the seafood division, Tuna Melt is going up against Crab Cakes. You can vote for your favorite here, http://www.pbs.org/food/features/sandwich-madness/
The second is Book Madness 2012 (http://outofprintclothing.com/2012/03/welcome-to-book-madness-2012/) which is organized by Out of Print Clothing. In this bracket, you are selecting and voting for the best book. The books are organized into divisions named after four great libraries, New York Public Library, Library of Congress, the British Library and the Royal Library. Right now, the New York Public Library first round is taking place, http://outofprintclothing.com/book-madness/. With this bracket, if you select the book that wins it all, you can win a gift certificate to the online retailer. For rules and how to submit visit, http://outofprintclothing.com/2012/03/welcome-to-book-madness-2012/.
Good luck to all the sandwiches and books competing in this year’s tournament,
Brian
Besides snapping photos of food and sharing library crime stories, I enjoying creating maps using Google Maps. For the past year, I have plotted the restaurants that have appeared in The Times-Tribune Chef’s Table weekly series. Many of the restaurants featured on the map have also appeared here on Food Photos & Library Crime. So if you are looking for somewhere to eat in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Chef’s Table Locator Map is a great resource.
This look at Honeychilds’ is part of The Times-Tribune’s ongoing series of articles called Chef’s Table. Honeychilds’ Chicago Style Chicken Wings was featured a few weeks back here on Food Photos & Library Crime, here is a link to the image, http://foodphotosandlibcrime.tumblr.com/post/16554681898/wings-fries-honeychilds-dunmore-pa
